How to Use a YubiKey with MYOB: Setup and Sign-In Guide

A YubiKey is a small security key that plugs into your computer. Once it is set up, you can sign in to MYOB by plugging it in and touching it, instead of typing your password. MYOB calls this signing in with a passkey, and it protects your account from stolen passwords and fake sign-in pages.

This guide walks you through it in two parts: setting up your YubiKey once, then signing in with it every day.

Before you start

You will need:

• Your YubiKey. Any FIDO2 YubiKey works, such as the YubiKey 5C NFC or one from our Security Key Series.
• Your MYOB email and password.
• Your usual MYOB verification method (the code app on your phone, or a text message code).
• An up-to-date web browser: Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.

Part 1: Set up your YubiKey

You only need to do this once for each YubiKey.

1. Open your web browser and go to myaccount.myob.com/account/security.
2. Sign in with your MYOB email and password. If asked, enter your verification code.
3. Find the Sign in section. Next to Passkey, click Add. (If you have added a passkey before, click Manage, then Add passkey.)
4. If asked for another verification code, enter it and click Continue.
5. Click Add passkey.
6. A window will pop up asking where to save your passkey. Choose Security key. It may say Use a different device or USB security key instead.
7. Plug your YubiKey into your computer.
8. If asked, create a PIN for your YubiKey, or enter the PIN you already have. Pick something you will remember. This is not your MYOB password.
9. When the YubiKey starts flashing, touch the gold circle or metal contact on it.
10. You will be taken back to MYOB and see a message saying your passkey was added. You will also get a confirmation email.

Tip: add a spare. If you have a second YubiKey, repeat these steps with it now and keep it somewhere safe. That way you are never locked out if one is lost. MYOB lets you add up to 5 keys or devices.

Part 2: Sign in with your YubiKey

Do this every time you sign in to MYOB.

1. Go to the MYOB sign-in page.
2. Click Sign in with passkey.
3. If you see a list of passkeys, click the one for your YubiKey.
4. When your browser asks, choose Security key (or Use a different device).
5. Plug in your YubiKey.
6. Enter your YubiKey PIN if asked.
7. Touch the gold circle or metal contact when the key flashes.
8. If asked for a verification code, enter it. MYOB will then open.

If something goes wrong

• I don't see Sign in with passkey. Your browser may need updating. You can still sign in with your email and password as normal.
• I got an error. Make sure you completed Part 1 first. If needed, enter your email, click Sign in with password and sign in the usual way.
• I lost my YubiKey. Sign in with your email and password, go to the Account security page, and remove the lost key from your list of passkeys. Then set up a replacement.

Good to know: your MYOB password still works, so a YubiKey never locks you out on its own.
